Economic Daily - China Economic Net, Beijing, March 6 (Reporter Xiong Li) At present, the problems of global warming, environmental pollution and depletion of fossil energy resources are becoming more and more serious. Zhao Yiwu, a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, suggested that the development of bio-based degradable materials can not only fundamentally solve the problem of white pollution, but also greatly reduce the consumption of oil by the material industry and ease the pressure on petrochemical resources.

Member Zhao Yiwu introduced that with the development of the petrochemical industry, plastics have become an indispensable material. At the same time, the problem of white pollution caused by plastic waste is becoming more and more serious, and its harm to the ecological environment such as marine and terrestrial soil is also increasing. A report released by the United Nations Environment Programme shows that the pollution disaster caused by non-degradable plastic materials derived from petroleum has spread to every corner of the earth. The number of plastic bags used in the world every year is as high as 5 trillion. Spread out side by side, they cover an area the size of two Frances. However, to date, only 9% of the 9 billion tons of plastic produced in the world has been recycled, and most of the rest is thrown into landfills, dumps or the natural environment.

"According to statistics, about 8 million tons of plastic waste are discharged into the sea every year. By 2050, the plastic weight in the ocean will exceed that of fish." Zhao Yiwu said that when the waste plastic in the ocean is gradually decomposed into plastic particles, it will be It will cause more difficult to solve environmental problems, and the plastic microparticles contained in fish and salt will eventually enter the human body. These microplastics come from the washing of cosmetic or broken waste plastics and synthetic fabrics.

Commissioner Zhao Yiwu said that the development of bio-based degradable materials can effectively solve these problems. The so-called bio-based materials are new materials produced by biological, chemical and physical methods using renewable biomass as raw materials, including crops and their wastes, such as straw, etc. Advantages, some categories also have good biodegradation properties.

Member Zhao Yiwu said that at present, many countries in the world have included bio-based materials in their national development strategies, and my country should also vigorously promote the application and development of bio-based materials. He suggested to build and improve China's bio-based material industry, especially the production and application industry chain of bio-based degradable material industry. Top-level design for the development direction of the bio-based material industry, focusing on the development of a batch of materials that are in demand in the market and can be rapidly scaled, such as polylactic acid, bio-based nylon, etc. At the same time, the use of bio-based materials in the national economy and daily life should be vigorously promoted. Strengthen garbage classification, vigorously support the development of composting, especially household composting technology, and clarify the responsibilities and obligations of producers, sellers and consumers for recycling, garbage classification and garbage composting in the form of regulations.
